Chaos

"The moment you come to trust chaos, you see God clearly. Chaos is divine order, versus human order. Change is divine order, versus human order. When the chaos becomes safety to you, then you know you're seeing God clearly."
- Caroline Myss

Jumping...

Things that help you jump into the unknown - Bravery. Strength. Stupidity. Optimism. Pessimism. Hope. Fear of not jumping. Love. A mish-mash of all of the above.

Alma Allen

I first saw Alma Allen's work around 10 years ago on Abbot-Kinney. I had always meant to scrape enough together to purchase something, anything by him, but didn't get to it.

Recently, he made the door hardware for the Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs. At least I got to caress them every day that I was there.

Franck Juery

Came across these photos today. They fill me with a deep sense of longing.

Local togs

I am continually amazed at our shopping options here in Portland. For a logging town, it's incredibly stylish, more so than many places I've lived.

Black Beauties

Lovely portrait series of African-American stars of yesterday by Carl Van Vechten.

Bitters Co

This is a great store that I visit whenever I got to Seattle. The two sisters who run the place stock it with lovely things from all over.

This time last year...

On the island of Lasqueti, British Columbia. It's so very special there.

Spine Rug

I liked this at first glance, then liked it even more when I found out Karen Blixen acts as the designer's muse.

Partners & Spade

This store has a great concept - work studio during the week, shop on the weekends, and inventory based on self-curated collections. That is my long-term plan as well.

Sort Of Coal

I have a thing for carbon...

My last morning in Copenhagen, at a lovely little cafe', I saw this product line. I am considering buying a couple of things.

Look at their line here-

Napkins

I like these. You can get them here-

Un Elefante

Someday I would like to have one of these, not actually to use as a topiary, just because I like the form.

You can get one here-
